Once your digital impression is captured, our team uses CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to design your restoration. Using a 3D scanner CEREC acquires a digital image of your teeth. Crown, onlays, inlays and veneers can all be completed in our office while you wait! Using the CEREC system our practice has converted multi-visit, complex treatments into single visit procedures, eliminating the need for temporary restorations, additional injections, and cumbersome impressions. The Cerec crown is made entirely of tooth-colored ceramic which is especially important if the crown can be seen when you smile.CEREC represents the biggest advancement in dentistry in the past 30 years. As the crown ages, the porcelain can wear away exposing some of the unsightly metal base. Traditional crowns are made of metal which is covered with porcelain. The aesthetics of a Cerec crown are another advantage. That not only means less discomfort for you, it also means that your underlying tooth remains stronger. Another bonus of the exactness of the computer scan is that it usually reduces the amount of drilling required. The digital 3D imaging of the Cerec machine is precise, so you receive a better fitting crown. This not only eliminates the discomfort of a temporary crown, it also protects your tooth from additional decay. We know that your time is valuable and with fewer visits to our office there’s less time you have to take off work or away from other pursuits.Īnother benefit of having the crown milled and fitted for you on the same visit is that there’s no need to wear an ill-fitting temporary crown for weeks while you wait for an off-site dental lab to finish making the permanent crown. One of the main benefits of a Cerec crown is the ease of the procedure from start to finish.
